Tertiary educational organisations and Institutions should apply for names in the .ac.nz.
Names registered in gen.nz are those names that are generally not covered elsewhere.
A .geek.nz extensipon is for tech minded individuals.
Maori people, organisations and groups should apply under the .maori.nz extension.
Service providers in the NZ network and internet industry should apply for names in the .net.nz extension.
Not for profit organisations should apply under the .org.nz domain extension.
Primary, Secondary and Pre-Schools should apply under the .school.nz extension.
In order to register in the .nz, you need to be an identifiable individual over 18 years of age or a properly constituted organisation. Registrants do not need to be based in New Zealand and their domain name does not need to be hosted in New Zealand.
The .nz Domain Name Registration and Management system is overseen by the Domain Name Commission(DNC).
